Sexual Minority Youth Assistance League (SMYAL) is a youth service agency serving the metropolitan area of Washington, DC, including Maryland and Northern Virginia, with a mission to support and enhance the self-esteem of sexual minority youth - any youth (13-21) who is lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or who may be questioning their sexuality (LGBTQ) - and to increase public awareness and understanding of their issues.

Through youth leadership, SMYAL creates opportunities for LGBTQ youth to build self-confidence, develop critical life skills, and engage their peers and community through service and advocacy. Committed to social change, SMYAL builds, sustains and advocates for programs, policies and services that LGBTQ youth need as they grow into adulthood.
