All-Star Charity Hockey Game
Charity events come in all shapes and sizes, and one such event that will be held soon is an all-star hockey game. The idea was discussed between Adam Burish of the San Jose Sharks and his agent, Bill Zito. In 2 weeks’ time the two have put together a huge charity event that they hope will bring in 10,000 fans as well as raise $250,000 for the Ronald McDonald House.
The game will be held at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois. Several members of the 2010 Stanley Cup Championship team, the Blackhawks, will be participating. The two teams will be the Chicago Team which consists of members from the Blackhawks, and the World Team that has everyone else. Some of the Chicago team members include Jonathan Toews, Patrick Sharp, Patrick Kane, Brian Campbell, Troy Brouwer and James Wisniewski. The World Team members include Niklas Backstrom, Ryan Suter, Ville Leino, Kimmo Timonen, Tom Gilbert and Shawn Thornton.
Some of the players have even put things on hold just to be here. Patrick Kane agreed to take over for someone in the Swiss League, but told them that it will have to wait until after the charity game. Andrew Ladd and Kris Versteeg are even flying up from other states. The coaches will be celebrities Jenny McCarthy and Ryan Dempster. Everyone involved is excited for this event and are happy to help out for a good cause. Further details can be found here.
