The Humane Society depends on you and others in the community to support the sheltering, care and adoption of homeless, unwanted and stray dogs and cats. People are often surprised to learn that we are a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization and receive no government funds for shelter operations. Our only revenues come from the modest adoption, intake and other service fees we charge, in addition to the generous donations from the public, persons like you.

We shelter and care for these animals, providing not only food and bedding, but real humane care and socialization. We vaccinate the animals, apply flea preventative, groom and bathe them. We address a myriad of minor medical issues, ranging from disease, parasites and infections to wounds and other injuries. We take some of the animals to veterinary care for situations we are unequipped or unqualified to address ourselves.

And we spay and neuter all the animals that are not already.

We adopt out as many dogs and cats as we can, taking great care to ensure that we are providing a safe and secure new adoptive home. We work to determine that the new adopter understands and accepts his or her new responsibility and is prepared to carry it out.

The needs of the animals in our community are serious. Please help us. Give generously to the Humane Society of NWPA so we can continue our work and hopefully expand to meet tomorrow's needs.
