How Your Donation Helps
For over a century, the BSA has helped build the future leaders of this country by combining educational activities and lifelong values with fun. The Boy Scouts of America believes — and, through over a century of experience, knows — that helping youth is a key to building a more conscientious, responsible, and productive society.
The purpose of Boys Scouts of America, incorporated on February 8, 1910, and chartered by congress in 1916, is to provide an educational program for boys and young men to build character, to train in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and to develop personal fitness. In short, we are building good, strong, responsible, confident young men, of good moral character. We do this through various activities including high adventure outdoor activities, camping, and through community service projects. Scouting makes a direct and positive impact on the community by teaching positive values and leadership skills to youth. Participation in the Boys Scouts of America, at any age, plays a major role in shaping lasting values and the use of these values in daily life. Those young people who have embraced the message of scouting, have and will, serve our nation well.
In 2011, Three Fires Council finished as a Silver Council based on our performance across all seventeen points of the new Journey to Excellence program. This improvement is due to the commitment of our units, volunteers and professional staff in the areas of Friends of Scouting, Membership, Program, Camping, Advancement, Community Service, Commissioner Visits, and Council and District Leadership.
