Different genetic disorders that bring about the progressive loss of muscle strength and muscle tissue is referred to as Muscular Dystrophy. There is no cure yet, but there are several strategies and treatments that can help increase a person’s quality of life and relieve symptoms.
The Muscular Dystrophy Family Foundation (MDFF) works to enhance the independence and life-quality of people who are affected by this disabling disorder. They do this through education, advocacy and financial resources that include car donations for MD.
Struggling Individuals and families in the state of Indiana who have MD or a form of neuromuscular disease can apply for financial assistance with MDFF. They assist for things like:
- Medical equipment not covered by other insurance
- Partial funding for down payments of a mobility vehicle
- Auto and home modifications to improve independence and mobility
- Mobility van – applications available at the beginning of each year
