The mission of Barrett Foundation is to provide housing and supportive services to women and children who are striving to break the cycle of homelessness.
How Your Donation Helps
The Barrett Foundation, Inc. was founded by Brother Mathias Barrett in 1985. The Barrett Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that helps homeless women and children build quality lives for themselves through three programs: Barrett House, an emergency shelter for homeless women and children; Bridges, a supportive housing program for families; and Casa Milagro, a home for women with chronic mental illness. In addition to providing food and shelter through these programs, Barrett Foundation also offers the critical skills, training, structure and support homeless women need to plan and establish their own future – and the futures of their children.
The Barrett Foundation believes strongly that collaborating with other agencies in the field brings a synergy that benefits the women and children it serves. It also serves the Albuquerque Community as a whole.

The umbrella organization, the New Mexico Coalition to End Homelessness, provides services, coordination, and other support to about 60 non-profit homeless service agencies, homeless people, and government agencies.
The Coalition meets every other month in Albuquerque to pursue the goal of housing for all in a number of different ways – from creating new housing and providing technical assistance to those serving the homeless, to lobbying elected officials for increased funding for additional housing and support services.
