LSI promotes lupus awareness and complements the work of health care professionals by providing personalized resources for the lupus community while supporting research.
How Your Donation Helps
The Lupus Society of Illinois , formed in 1973, is the Midwest’s leading non-profit health organization dedicated to finding the causes and cure for lupus.
Everyday, an estimated 65,000 Illinoisans wake up with lupus. The Lupus Society of Illinois is the only organization dedicated to helping lupus patients, their families, friends and health care providers.Every day, an estimated 1.5 million Americans (one out of every 200) struggle with the often debilitating and disabling health effects of lupus, a chronic autoimmune disease that causes inflammation and tissue damage to virtually every organ system in the body.
LSI relies on funding for educational activities and programs like our Living with Lupus Grant program that provides up to $400 for a lupus related medical expense or our Lupus Navigator Program that provides individual support to anyone in the lupus community. LSI does not charge and we rely on donations through programs like Donate A Car to fund our comprehensive programs and services.
