Mission
Our mission is to ensure that individuals and families have the freedom, information, and ability to make their own informed reproductive choices. We believe that each individual has a basic right to control their reproductive life. Individual control will lead to a better quality of life and stronger families and communities. Reproductive health decisions must be voluntary and private.
How Your Donation Helps
VLPP has been providing reproductive health care services to the Greater Richmond Metropolitan area for 75 years and received its 501c3 status in 1942. In January of 2015, VLPP merged with Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Virginia (PPSEV), which has expanded our service area to include the Greater Hampton Roads Metropolitan area. VLPP currently operates three health centers in Richmond, Virginia Beach, and Hampton, and VLPP’s service area encompasses 50 cities and counties in the Greater Richmond and Greater Hampton Roads areas.
In 2017, VLPP saw over 20,000 patients at our three health centers. VLPP also provides sex education programs and community advocacy across the Greater Richmond and Greater Hampton Roads regions. VLPP’s unique position as a health care provider and as an educator gives us unrivaled expertise in reproductive health and contraception.
VLPP provides a full range of high-quality, affordable health care services at our three health centers, including annual exams, cervical cancer screenings, sexually transmitted infection (STI) screenings and treatment, abortion services, transgender health services, and comprehensive primary care services. VLPP provides sex education in schools and in communities throughout our service area and works to equip young people with tools essential to reducing the teen pregnancy rate and reducing the risk of STIs. Our advocacy team works to protect, maintain, and expand access to reproductive health, education, and choice by engaging supporters of reproductive health initiatives.
