How Your Donation Helps
Timothy Hill Children’s Ranch (THCR) was founded in 1980 from the dream of a young boy named Timothy Hill. During his childhood his parents, Jerry and Fern Hill, opened their home to dozens of foster children. Seeing the impact that love had on these children, Timothy declared that someday he wanted to “build a place where troubled kids could live, be loved, feel safe, and have wide open spaces to ride horses.”
Tragically, on May 11, 1972, a bicycle-truck accident ended his life at only thirteen. Friends and neighbors responded spontaneously by creating a memorial fund earmarked “for Timothy’s ranch.” Eventually land was purchased with this money along with funds from the sale of Fern Hill’s book, Graduation to Glory, which recounts Timothy’s altruistic ways.
THCR provides residential care for boys ages 10‑21 in need of a therapeutic environment. The 70‑acre, farm-style campus, is licensed by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services and is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Most of the boys come from abusive and loveless backgrounds. THCR strives to give these young men the opportunity to develop life skills and personal talents while in our care. The five-part program includes residential living, counseling, vocational training, adventure-based programs, and spiritual direction.
