Crohn’s disease is a chronic inflammatory condition of the gastrointestinal tract. It can affect the GI tract in any area. Although symptoms may be slightly different from person to person, the most prevailing signs of Crohn’s disease include persistent diarrhea, rectal bleeding, pressing desire to have a bowel movement, pain and cramping in the abdomen, feeling of incomplete evacuation, and constipation. Crohn’s disease is a different condition than ulcerative colitis which is another type of IBD (Inflammatory bowel disease). Even though the symptoms of these two diseases are very similar, the affected areas in the GI tract are different.
