The Orange County Council, Boy Scouts of America is one of the most successful in Scouting. Serving 27 municipalities and 16 school districts, OCCBSA encompasses a diverse group of more than 100,000 youth members and 14,000 registered adult volunteers. Special programs include Scoutreach, for youth in urban areas that are heavily Hispanic and Asian-American, Learning for Life, an in-school character education program, and Exploring, a co-educational career awareness program for young adults. The annual Scout-O-Rama is one of the county's largest youth expos with more than 25,000 attending in 2003. Overall, OCCBSA serves 25% of the youth population in Orange County and is a leader in outdoor programming for all youth. |
