How Your Donation Helps
The Arc of Solano is a private, non-profit corporation governed by a volunteer Board of Directors who, with the assistance of staff, plan and develop needed programs and services for people with developmental disabilities and their families. The mission of The Arc-Solano is to promote the greatest personal growth, community understanding, and full participation of people with developmental disabilities and their families through support, education, and advocacy.
The Arc-Solano features three core programs:
Alternatives in Curriculum and Training (ACT)
ACT is a behavioral day program designed to serve the special needs of consumers with dual diagnoses. The approach has proven successful with consumers who need a structured environment in which to work toward meeting individual goals and improving their functioning in their world. ACT provides a small group setting with a 1:3 ratio. Consumers receive instruction in anger management, community access, self-esteem and social skills. Some work activities are available for those interested in earning money and practicing appropriate work behaviors and skills.
Transitional Service (TS)
Transitional Service (TS) is a community-based independent living skills (ILS) program. TS is goal oriented and consumer driven, providing training and assistance to consumers in developing adaptive ways of living independently in the community. TS staff work with consumers in the areas of advocacy, budgeting, cooking, accessing support agencies, medical needs, shopping, parenting, and all areas in between. Each staff member is responsible for a caseload of from ten to twelve consumers.
Art@Arc is The Arc-Solano’s resident arts program, with an eclectic range of arts activities, and is available to consumers participating in either the ACT or TS programs.
